Fire Fighting

Spread over approximately 4 acres, the Fire Fighting Hard at Karanja (Uran) is equipped with three distinct facilities -

  • a ship’s mock-up chamber
  • a smoke chamber
  • a mock-up helicopter

These three facilities are utilised for conducting demonstrations and practical fire fighting as a part of basic and advanced STCW Fire fighting courses, Offshore emergency response courses and helicopter safety courses. Candidates are conveyed to the practical site by a ferry craft and are trained under the watchful eyes of an experienced Chief Engineer and eight fire fighting Instructors having more than 25 years of experience in the Indian Navy.
